If anyone ever cared, really cared for someone else it would have to be Tami. She was a big hearted and well loved individual, and these wonderful traits came easily to her because she was such a sociable and amiable person, someone who was always making certain that those around her had whatever they needed. Tami was a talkative person who loved to visit with family and friends.
Tami was born in Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah on May 13, 1959 to her parents Ted and Arlene Waters. She was raised in Alhambra, California. During her childhood she learned to be reliable and respectful. Tami was an obedient child who was known as the golden child. She found it easy to show sympathy and to perform kind acts for others. These admirable qualities would become a part of Tami's personality throughout her life.
Tami was raised with her two sisters: Tonya and Tedene; and two brothers: Jeff and Jerry. Tami and her siblings had the typical rivalries while growing up, but they cared deeply for one another.
She graduated from Alhambra High School in 1977. Her favorite class in high school was Home Economics. She continued her education, attending Brigham Young University. She really loved her film classes she took at school and that carried through out her life. She loved a good love story. Even Hallmark ones.
There was one thing that all of Tami's friends knew and will still remember, and that is that she was a talker. She could pretty much talk to anybody about anything. This quality is one of the primary reasons that Tami was such a popular person throughout her life. But Tami was also dependable, loyal and trustworthy. Tami was the kind of person who simply radiated light and love. While she maintained personal standards and her own personal values, Tami was very accepting of others. With a distinct skill for working things out, Tami was often the person who would organize events. In fact, Tami was fairly comfortable playing the role of “host” for just about any occasion. When Tami made friends, she made true and lasting friendships. Some of her best friends were her college roommates that she kept in contact with through out the years.
Tami was a faithful and loving person. Some would even call her sentimental and a romantic at heart. Her kindness and consideration radiated an aura of warmth to those around her. Tami cared for what others thought and carried that into her marriage. On April 10, 1982 Tami and Bob were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple in Los Angeles, California. They had a love story for the ages.
Love was important to Tami and she made sure that all of her family knew of her love for them. Tami was blessed with four children, Taryn, Katie, Lauren and Trevor. They were also blessed with ten grandchildren, Stryder, Shelby, Soren, Samuel, Starlynn, Mason, Zoe, Layla, Wyatt, and Cheyenne.
There was no better Grandma. She cherished the time that she was able to spend with everyone. Whether it was tickling their tummies or taking them shopping. She loved those kids.
Although she worked as an Insurance Secretary, her primary focus was maintaining a loving and nurturing home for Bob and the kids.
A creative woman, Tami enjoyed spending time working on her various hobbies. Her home reflects her craftiness and she loved to give hand made gifts to her family and friends. Her favorite pursuits were cross stitching, sewing, tole painting, reading, and watching movies.
Tami was one of those people who took pride in constantly putting forth her best effort. Nowhere was that more visible than in sports. In high school, Tami played tennis, softball, and was on the drill team. In her college years, Tami continued to stay active by playing tennis in class. Later in life, Tami enjoyed taking her fast pace walks to keep fitness. Tami was also a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite teams whenever she got the opportunity. Tops on her list were college basketball and football, tennis, and the Olympics. The best of all was watching her kids playing sports. She was always there for every basketball game, swim meet and any other event the kids were involved in.
.
Her high moral standards and traditional values served Tami well with her faith. Religion and faith were important to her. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since birth. Always willing to contribute to her church body, Tami was a primary chorister, and young women’s leader, camp director and worked with the Scouts. All of those who she served felt her love for them.
Tami enjoyed traveling, and we all know her favorite place to go was Disneyland. Followed a close second was visiting her grandchildren and other family members.
Tami passed away on November 23, 2019 in Henderson, Nevada due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. She is survived by her husband, Bob; father, Ted; children: Taryn (Ben), Katie (Jesse), Lauren (Justin) and Trevor; four siblings: Tonya (Leonard), Tedene, Jeff (Jennifer), and Jerry (Anita); and 10 grandchildren: Stryder, Shelby, Soren, Samuel, Starlynn, Mason, Zoe, Layla, Wyatt, and Cheyenne.
