On November 22, 2019, Anne Jones “Honey” Malone, school teacher, ship captain, and co-owner of a sailing school, departed this life for her next adventure. She remains the beloved wife of James Daniel “Captain” Malone, and mother of Brooks Malone, Stephen (Deanna) Malone and Amy (Patrick) Bourgeron, grandmother of Ryder (Rebecca) Malone and Sara (Hobart) Blankenburg, Jesse Malone, Rachel (Dereck) West, Jeffrey Lingg and great-grandmother to Lucy, Daxon, Austin, Leah, Danny, Aiden and Aria.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland on June 28, 1935 to Howard Edwin Jones, Jr. and Ellen (nee Padgett) Jones. Her siblings include Sue Ellen Wines, Marybeth Smith, Buddy Jones and Bill Jones.
Anne attended Notre Dame Prep, class of ’53. She continued her academic studies at Towson State obtaining both a BA and Masters. She spent 30 years as an elementary teacher with the Baltimore City Public School System and taught thousands of students.
Anne’s interest in sailing led her to obtain a U.S.C.G. Merchant Marine license. In 1990, Anne and Dan set sail on the QA II and settled in Marathon, Florida Keys where they formed the Banana Bay Sailing School and operated the sailboat Hootmon, a 37’ center-cockpit ketch, famous for its sunset champagne cruises. For 16 years she taught sailing and snorkeling at Banana Bay. As a Notary in Florida, she was able to marry countless couples at sea.
Her talents as an artist were expressed through her watercolor paintings and creative writings.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The family will receive friends at Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Rd.) Timonium, MD 21093 on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 2 to 4pm at which time a funeral service will be celebrated at 4pm. A graveside service will be held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 10AM.
