Gloria was born on November 9,1926, in San Antonio to Jesus and Rachel O’Con. She was raised in downtown San Antonio with her five brothers and one sister. As a young girl, she attended St. Michael’s Catholic School and ran a fruit stand outside O’Con’s Corner on Main Street. Her family had a restaurant, a beauty parlor, and a grocery store which led her to pursue her career at the local business school.
She married Kasper, the love of her life, on May 20,1947, and they were happily married for 58 years. They had four children before she started her career in the childcare business. She quickly found her passion for teaching and worked for over 30 years as the La Petite Academy Director. As she would sing and dance around the room her lively character would captivate all the students. She could come up with a song on the spot for anything! Her positive outlook touched many students' lives and she won numerous awards for running an outstanding school.
In 1993, she and Kasper moved to Boerne taking the city girl to the country. They raised goats, cows, chickens, and donkeys. In addition, she continued to whip up delicious meals to make sure her family and friends never left on an empty stomach. Besides being devoted to her family she always had a strong faith in the Lord and was very involved at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. There she was active in helping out with Faith Formation, RCIA, Stephen Ministry, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, Senior Ministry, A.C.T.S. Retreats, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She taught many to pursue a personal relationship with the Lord and that He will always remain faithful. Gloria was a prayer warrior for many!
She now reunites with her parents, husband Kasper August Fritz, two children, Mary and Joseph, four brothers, one sister, and son-in-law Gregory Alford. Gloria is survived by her four children: Barbara Franklin and spouse James, Kasper Anthony Fritz and spouse Florence, Judith Alford, Stephanie Larzelere and spouse Richard. As well as her eight grandchildren: Kristine Davis and spouse Shane, Rhonda Murphy and spouse Terrence, Kasper Elmo Fritz and spouse Gwendolyn, Chad Fritz, Cole Larzelere, Kylie Larzelere, Ty Larzelere, Bo Larzelere and her seven great-grandchildren: Sheyenne Davis, Sterling Davis, Stratton Davis, Schaeden Davis, Caroline Murphy, Luke Crawford Murphy, Caitlyn Murphy, and a brother Roland and spouse Iva Mae and numerous other relatives and friends.
