Jim Boyles, 87, of Gun Barrel City, Texas entered into eternal rest on 24th November 2019 surrounded by loved ones. Visitation and Rosary will take place at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home at 6pm on 26th November 2019 followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude at 10 am on 27th November 2019. Burial will be in Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
Jim Boyles was born on Aug 26 1932 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He grew up a son of a cotton merchant in Amherst, Texas and graduated High School (1949) in Munday, Texas. He devoted his time to faith and family. He was an active member of his Catholic parishes from the Knights of Columbus, Assembly 2570, to Lenten Fish Fries.
In 1956 after he proudly served the in the United States Air Force, he enrolled in the University of Texas where attained an Accounting degree. Following his graduation from the University of Texas (1959) he obtained an accounting job with Tecon and never looked back. During his 42 years with Tecon he enjoyed working on various projects with his friends and co-workers. His time with Tecon saw him building dams in Tennessee to building communities in East Texas.
Following his retirement from Tecon he used his time and talents with the Knights of Columbus (Council 8806), and the East Cedar Creek Freshwater Supply District. You could always count on Jim to talk about the latest developments with the University of Texas football team where he attended almost every home football game for the past 40 plus years.
Jim is preceded in death by his father and mother, Donald and Catherine Boyles and his eldest son Ken Boyles. Survivors are his wife, Mary Boyles, of 59 years, and 5 children; Mary Kay (Glenn), Don (Lee), Glenda (Andy), Betty Sue (Shane) and Bob (Julie); and 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
