Margaret Bristol was born in Newark, New Jersey, on June 7, 1924, to the late Benjamin and Rose Davenport Henry. Margaret was the oldest daughter of three siblings, Rose, Jerimiah and Mary who have all predeceased her. At a young age, she attended The Little Children’s Temple in New Jersey, which is where her weekly bible studies and Sunday school was held. She attended grade school and was educated in the New Jersey school system.
In her early 20’s, Margaret was blessed to have met the love of her life, her late husband, Stanley, Sr. Because Stanley was a military man, it afforded her the opportunity to travel throughout the states and numerous countries. Margaret and Stanley added to their union, three children, Bonita, Beverly and Stanley, Jr. They had a union that lasted for more than 70 years.
Margaret was affectionately known as “Maggie” by her family and close friends, and as “Mac” by her late husband, Stanley, Sr. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and most of all, cooking the family Thanksgiving dinners. The family traveled from many different states to be in her home during the holiday season. Everyone was always invited, including friends of the family.
Maggie loved to tell stories and had the ability to take you back in time, right along with her, as she reminisced about her memories. One of her famous sayings was, “remember that time …” followed by tear-filled laughter.
Later in life, Maggie lost of her sight, but she never lost her vision, because of her strong faith and belief in God.
Margaret leaves behind to carry on her mission, her son, Stanley, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Carla; son-in-law, James, Sr.; grandsons, Andre and James, Jr.; great grandson’s, Jaeden, Ulysses, and Ezra; granddaughter, Jalynn; Taliyah aka “TT” (whom she raised as a daughter); Shelly, her God-sent Angel; God daughter, Donna and a host of nieces and nephews; and last but certainly not least, Earline Brunson, Maggie’s dear lifetime friend.
