Albert R. Schepis of Airmont, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 26, 2019. He was born on October 30, 1933 in Yonkers, NY to the late Rosario and Gilda Schepis. He married the love of his life Lucia on July 5, 1959. They moved to Rockland County in 1967. He graduated from Mt. St. Michael High School, and earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College. He was employed by Western Union / AT&T from 1955 until his retirement in 1996. During his career, he held managerial positions in Engineering, Reprographics, and Graphics Design. Al was a great man who was adored by everyone who knew him. His kind and gentle disposition was infectious. He loved to “whistle while he worked”. He was an avid Yankee (Joe DiMaggio) fan and sports enthusiast. He was a player/manager for the company baseball team, and won the MVP and batting title. He enjoyed following local sports, working in his pristine yard, and attending his grandchildren’s events. His family was his life. Al is survived by his loving wife, Lucia; his children: Al (Valerie) of Stony Point, NY, Susan Occhino of Mawah, NJ, Robert (Corie) of Suffern, NY, Jeanne Daly (Patrick) of Pearl River, NY, and Donna of Suffern, NY; his loving grandchildren: Nicole (Nick) Cilli, Danielle, Jessica, Erica, Leanne, Robert, Allison, Lindsay, Victoria, and Abigail. He was predeceased by his sisters Carmela and Grace and brother in-laws Joseph and Frank. Calling hours will be held at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59 Suffern, NY on Sunday, December 1 from 2pm- 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Scared Heart Church in Suffern at 10am on Monday December 2. The Entombment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Meals on Wheels or Hospice of Rockland.
