Maurice D’Arcy, ingénieur en structure de renom, était très apprécié de ses pairs. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme comme ingénieur à l’école Polytechnique de l’Université de Montréal, il poursuivit ses études à l’illustre Université d’Illinois, à Chicago. Deux ans plus tard, à la suite de l’obtention du titre de ‘’Master of Science’’, il revient au pays pour faire carrière à Montréal. Au cours de sa longue et très vive carrière, il aura contribué à de nombreux projets d’envergures, autant au Québec qu’à l’étranger.
Meneur charismatique, perspicace avec une faculté de rassembleur et doué pour les gens, excessif de sa générosité, Maurice avait un grand sens de l’humour. Aimant le sport, les arts martiaux, couronné d’une ceinture noire 2e dan, passionné du golf, il pratiqua ce sport de prédilection comme membre au club de golf la Vallée du Richelieu. Un grand passionné dans l’âme, il siégea plusieurs années sur le conseil d’administration du club.
Maurice D’Arcy est décédé le 27 novembre 2019 à Montréal, à l’âge de 84 ans. Originaire de Magog, il était le fils de feu Donat D’Arcy et de feu Bernadette Tessier. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Sylvia Ruel, sa fille Michelle, et ses deux garçons, Normand (Nancy Lemay) et Pierre (Sophie Viau); ses petits-enfants James et Philip, leur père Paul Whelan, Félix, Thomas, Alexandre et Charles; ses sœurs Claire (Jean-Charles Frenette) et Carmen (feu Jean-Paul Courchesne) et de nombreux neveux et nièces de son frère et ses sœurs, Line, François, Alexandre, Alain, Michel, Janie, Louise et Danielle.
