Leo Therrien of Farmington went to meet our Heavenly Father on November 28, 2019.
Born in New Britain, CT on March 15, 1932, Leo is the son of Gilbert and Marie Therrien. Leo grew up in New Britain, graduated from New Britain High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on May 7, 1951.
Leo honorably served his country and was awarded several citations and medals. He fought in the Korean War in three separate campaigns from 1952 through 1954, was honorably discharged on April 13, 1954.
Returning home, he began is 39 year career with the Connecticut Light and Power Company as a Lineman's helper, was promoted to Manager of Business Services and retired in that position in 1991.
He served his community as the Director, American Red Cross, New Britain Chapter, Director, Dutch Point Credit Union and as an officer of several organizations connected with the YMCA.
Leo was a gentle and kind man who would help anyone in need. As a faithful parishioner of St. Patrick Church, he gave selflessly to his fellow parishioners.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Therrien of Farmington, his sister, Rita Rival of Plainville and his brother, Norman Therrien and wife Terri of Virginia. He is also survived by three children, David Lee Therrien and wife Karen of Wolcott, Diane Therrien and fiancé Jeffrey Gamelli of Plainville, Debra Therrien of Bristol and daughter-in-law, Yin Concra of Farmington. Leo's grandchildren are, Bryan Pelletier and wife Kiki of North Carolina, Jessica Therrien of North Carolina, David Czako of Bristol and David Ross Therrien of Maryland and great grandchildren, Toby Pelletier of South Carolina and Ephrain and Matthew Ericksen of North Carolina. Leo will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 4-8PM at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 at 9am from the funeral home, for a brief gathering followed by his Funeral Liturgy at 10AM at the Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main Street, Farmington. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, 1309 Stanley Street, New Britain. The family would like to thank the Vitas Hospice nurses, for the wonderful home care services provided in support of Leo's passing.
