Mrs. Jean M. Forget, age 78, of Potsdam, NY passed away on November 29th at the Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, NY. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 3rd from 4-7pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, December 4th at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam, NY with Rev. Stephen Rocker celebrant. Jean is survived by her loving husband U. Peter Forget; sons Thomas Forget and Michael (Susan) Forget; daughter Amy (Ron) Watkins; sister Betty Getman and Aynne McAvoy; grandchildren Stephanie Bisceglia, Michael Forget Jr., Karen Graves, Shannon and Andrew Forget and Niklas Watkins; great grandchildren Olivia and Giada Bisceglia, Andon Forget and Nathan, Benjamin, Amelia and Aleesa Forget. She is predeceased by her daughter Deborah J. Forget.
Jean M. Forget was born on April 16, 1941 in Watertown, NY to the late Elmer and Gladys Gardner Bedore. She attended Watertown schools. On July 2, 1960 at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam, NY she was married to U. Peter Forget. They met while they were both working at Neisner’s in Potsdam. After they were married Jean raised her family and provided childcare in her home.
Jean was a very active community member, especially with St. Mary’s Church. As a member of St. Mary’s Church, she taught church school, was an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society and she devoted countless hours to clean and decorate the church for the Holidays. She was an avid reader. As an animal lover to the core, she enjoyed breeding French Poodles and later in life, Persian Himalayan cats. She loved spending her days reading while enjoying all the creatures of nature she could see out her back door, especially watching the hummingbirds. She loved traveling with her husband and she cherished her memories of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also proud to be a 21 year cancer survivor.
