Aurora Rodriguez Ortiz was born on September 16, 1924 in Jones Prairie, TX to Anasticio Rodriguez and Guadalupe Castro. She Married Domingo Ortiz in 1946 at St. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, TX. She is proceeded in death by her husband Domingo Ortiz, parents, Anastacio and Guadalupe Rodriguez, 3 brothers, Refugio, Ignacio and Jose Rodriguez, a sister, Guadalupe Gutierrez, 2 sons, Balthasar “Walter” and Alfredo Ortiz, and a daughter, Petra Ortiz.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Rosa Rodriguez of Temple, and Irene Vega of Thorndale, TX, and a brother Johnny Rodriguez of Austin, 8 children, Gloria O. Flores of Denver City, TX, Manuel Ortiz of Thrall, Olga Salazar of Thrall, Herlinda Flores of Taylor, Juanita “Janie” Flores of Denver City, TX, Antonio “Tony” Ortiz of Granger, Pantaleon “Leon” Ortiz of Taylor, and Augustine “Tino” Ortiz of Granger. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Some of her hobbies included quilting, gardening, giving others her wisdom and advice, teaching animals Spanish, nature watching, and spending time with any and everyone. She was a joyful and caring spirit to anyone that she encountered. She especially had a very soft spot for all children. Throughout her 95 years, her faith and love for God has carried her through the trials and tribulations of her life.
