Helen was born June 9, 1940 in Norwich, the daughter of the late Carl Marx Wiemann and Susan Pendleton (Lamb) Wiemann.
She married Dennison L. Allen September 15, 1963. He survives her.
She was an avid seamstress and quilter who created many blankets, quilts, toys and clothes for her family and also quilted and donated baby blankets to unwed mothers. She sewed costumes for Church and school productions and spent numerous summers cooking and baking for the Church sponsored Girl’s camp. Helen was known to sew all the gowns for a wedding party and make the wedding cake as well. Her talents seemed limitless. She was a lover of genealogy and served as the chairman of The Family History Library. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Norwich. Above all, Helen was always there to help anyone in need.
In addition to her husband Dennison, she is survived by her son William D. Allen, daughters Lorey Johnson and husband Brian of Florida, Cindy Allen of Taftville, Rebekah “Becky” Allen of Baltic, by her grandchildren Nathan Shwaery and wife Emily of Warwick, RI, Christopher Pelli and wife Vanessa of Cranston, RI, Greg Allen and wife Stephanie of Franklin, Paige Allen of Taftville, Erica Hutchins and husband Rick of Seattle, WA, Allie Madsen of Seattle, WA, Sydnee Golas and husband Corey of TX, TJ Allen of Titusville, FL, Adam Allen of Norwich, and Jake Allen of Versailles and by her 6 great-grandchildren Khloe, Parker and Kolten Golas, Raelynn Hutchins and Alana Shwaery.
Helen was predeceased by her daughters Linda Ann Lavigne and Deborah Allen-Madsen as well as by her parents and brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held at the Church and Allen Funeral Home in Norwich on Friday December 6, 2019 from 5 to 7 pm.
A Memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 519 Scotland Rd. Norwich on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11 am. Burial will be private for the family.
