Rhea Sue Camfield Kovski, 92, of Springfield, passed away on December 11, 2019 at The Arbors at Centennial Point. She was born on November 2, 1927 in Taylorville to Bruce L. Shaw and Millie L. Shutt. Rhea married O. Gene Camfield on February 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1983. She then married Dr. Roy Kovski in 1984 and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2009.
Mrs. Camfield Kovski is survived by her daughter Gale L. (Tracy W.) Meyer of Springfield, three grandchildren: John W. (Eastin) Meyer of Columbia, MO., Steve L. (Lisa) Meyer of Chicago and Jennifer L. (Brian) Renshaw of Louisville, KY., five great-grandchildren: Beckett and Brooks Meyer of Columbia, Jude and Jade Meyer of Chicago and Jaxon Renshaw of Louisville and five nieces and nephews: Joyce (Roger) Prather, Eugene Camfield, Donald Shaw, Bill Shaw and Diane Tate.
After graduating from high school Rhea attended modeling school in Chicago and she worked as an administrator for Franklin Life Insurance Company for over thirty years. Rhea enjoyed oil painting, cartoon drawing, gardening and dancing to Frank Sinatra. She was famous for her homemade chicken and noodles and baking banana crème pies.
A memorial service will be held 11:30am on Monday December 23, 2019 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of memorial service Monday at the funeral home.
