Michael Patrick McKeon Sr., age 75, of Wallington, New Jersey passed away on December 17, 2019 after a battle with cancer. He was born in the Bronx in New York City (St. Luke's Parish) on March 5, 1944 to John Francis McKeon and Mary Bridget McKeon (née Sheehy). His parents immigrated to the U.S. from Ireland in 1928 and 1930.
Michael is survived by his son Michael McKeon Jr. (Christina) of Pittsboro, NC, brother John McKeon (Mae) of Deer Park, NY, and sisters Rosemary Lynch of Wading River, NY, Ann Quigley (James) of Rockaway, NY, Kathleen Hauser of Mt. Sinai, NY and Marion Kuhn (James) of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger McKeon, and brothers-in-law Robert Hauser and Alan Lynch. Michael also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was fortunate to be surrounded by and in contact with so many family members and friends in his final days.
He spent his career at Degussa/Evonik in Parsippany, NJ as a logistics specialist where he formed many lifelong friendships with colleagues near and far. Family gatherings were a high point for Michael. He loved a good party and never missed an opportunity to get together and catch up with family and friends.
Throughout his life, Michael enjoyed many hobbies. His favorite fishing spots included the Little Bay Bridge pier near Fort Totten, NY, the trout rivers in the Catskills and New Hampshire, and the party boat out of Mattituck, NY. He had a passion for NY sports teams and had no problem rooting for both the Yankees and the Jets and the Giants.
A mass will occur Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Louis de Montfort Roman Catholic Church, 75 New York Avenue, Sound Beach, NY 11789. The burial service will immediately follow the mass at St. Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
