Karon Jean Urbas, age 74, of Highland, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Thomas Urbas; her two daughters: Rene (James) Hall and Christina (Bryan) Corcoran; her two grandchildren: Joshua and Joseph Corcoran; and her three siblings: Lynn Cooper, Denise Shomo, and Dale Cooper.
Karon was born April 15, 1945, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Carl and Margaret (Gillin) Cooper. She and Thomas Joseph Urbas have been married for fifty-two wonderful years. During her time in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Karon worked as a pharmacy assistant. In more recent years, Karon spent her time as a homemaker, and was lovingly known as the matriarch of her family.
In her free time, Karon enjoyed many hobbies, including cooking, arts and crafts, crocheting, and gardening. She also loved to travel, and held fond memories of taking family trips to her hometown of Johnstown, and going on summer trips in northern Michigan. But above all, Karon loved spending time with her family, making art with her grandsons, and caring for those she loved. She will be missed by so very many.
Karon was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Margaret; and her two siblings: Winifred Bump and Clarence Cooper.
The funeral service will take place 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home Highland Chapel, 3295 East Highland Road, Highland, Michigan 48356.
