Mrs. Betty Lou (Morrison) Sedlock, age 98 of Kannapolis passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis after a very brief illness. Betty was born September 3, 1921 in Trumbull County, Ohio to the late Clyde Hershey and Esther Greathouse Hershey. Her husband of 31 years, Donald Edward Morrison, her brothers, Vernon and Don Hershey, along with her sister, Marian Coleman also preceded her in death.
She proudly served her country in World War II as a member of the Women’s Army Corp and was one of the first 200 women to enlist (not drafted) once this branch was created. Betty became a photographer while serving her country and it carried on throughout her career after her service to her country.
She spent her career in photography, being a wonderful mother to her three sons and being very active in her Church. She was a very loving and dedicated mother who raised her children to be very active in their service to their church and in service to others. She was a wonderful cook who prepared wonderful meals for her family. She loved horses, riding and caring for them as they had a barn in her earlier years. Betty enjoyed a very active and fulfilled life. She spent her spare time visiting nursing homes where she entertained residents with her harmonica. She was still active, headstrong and independent at her ripe age of 98. She still drove herself around, bought her own groceries, attended to her own doctor’s appointments and cared for herself. At age 94, she needed heart surgery and the doctors said at her age it was too risky…..she convinced them otherwise, had the surgery and made a full recovery as the oldest patient to ever have this type of surgery. She was active until this brief illness appeared and rendered her to Hospice.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Scott Edward Morrison, Todd Edward Morrison (Jackie) and Kerry Edward Morrison (Laura). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jessica Dill, Donald Morrison and Christopher Morrison along with three great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild, Christian Matthews and one step great-grandchild.
