He was preceded in death by his parents, father, Al Rosen (Idell), his mother Jessie Rosen, and a brother, Jim Rosen.
Pete is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Lisa Rosen; children, Irving Alex Rosen (Grace Hundley), Sabrina Hatfield, Jessica Kellem, Elizabeth Rosen, Jennifer Smallwood, Jacob Enci, Robert Enci and Johnna Rosen; his brother, Marty Rosen (Mary Bryan); grandchildren, Cameron Hatfield, Bryce and Aaliyah Benningfield. Pete also leaves behind a large extended family.
Pete was the reassuring center of his family. He had a smart, quirky, sense of humor that shaped his world view and enriched the lives of those around him. Always independent-minded, he was a resourceful and compassionate man whose trademark expression from an early age was a lifted eyebrow and a skeptical grin.
Pete graduated from Jeffersonville High School and enjoyed a varied career in his early years, including stints at his father’s businesses (Cut-Rate Liquors and Joe’s Palm Room). Later he discovered that driving a taxi fit perfectly with his love of personal autonomy, his appreciation and understanding of Louisville, and the delight he took in meeting all kinds of people. In time, Pete moved from cab to office and became director of driver relations at Yellow Cab. In that role, he became a trusted friend, leader, and mentor to a richly diverse team of drivers who appreciated the respect he demonstrated to everyone he worked with, regardless of where they came from.
A visitation will be held from 1-8 pm on Monday, January 6, 2020. A memorial service to celebrate Pete’s life will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady – Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave. Please visit us online at www.archlheadycralle.com
