Caleb was born on April 9, 1999 in Greensboro, NC, youngest of three. His sense of humor helped him overcome many sad obstacles in his early days. He entered the Army on December 26, 2017, very happy to be part of a family united. It was impossible not to be touched by his zest for life. From an early age, he showed compassion for his friends who struggled. He had a super large heart that was often hidden.
Always a tremendous communicator, whether you were a child (which he loved to be with), in your 20’s, 50’s or even 90’s, he wanted to share in your life. When Caleb was in the room he was a tour de force, a focal point for conversation and everyone wanted to be near him. Though he faced many tragedies in his early life he was able to overcome them by reaching goals that he had set early on. We are all very proud of the Man he became. Caleb’s huge presence will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. And the world will be a poorer place with his passing.
Caleb is survived by his mother, Joy Money; sister, Gabrielle Deatherage; brother, Ethan Deatherage and fiancé Katie Davis; father, Greg Deatherage and extended family as well as special friends, Angelica Acosta, Kaiya Graves, Landon Handy and Travis Carter.
A Celebration of Caleb’s life will be held on Sunday, January 12th, 3:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 3:00 pm before the service.
