Heaven gained a true sportsman on January 4, 2020 but not without a persistent battle fought with courage and determination. George Jeffrey Andros was a hero in how he lived his life and faced adversity; he will be sorely missed.
Jeff was born in St. Lawrence Hospital, Lansing on March 13, 1943 to George and Betty Andros. He lived his entire life in the Lansing area; graduating from Sexton High School in 1961. After attending Wentworth Military Academy (Lexington, Missouri) and University of Miami (Coral Gables, Florida) he returned to Lansing to begin his 37 year career at Fisher Body where he worked in the personnel department and later as head of the suggestion department.
Jeff loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved trips with his buddies to pull in the big steelhead and walleye on the lake, the trout while fly fishing on a stream, or bagging a deer in Michigan or elk in Colorado. He was always willing to teach fishing techniques or hunting strategies to anyone interested.
Jeff’s main focus in life was his love for his family. In fact, his favorite place was the family cottage in northern Michigan where he enjoyed fishing, golf, tennis and most of all being with family.
On August 8, 2020, Jeff would have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary to the love of his life, Jane Sachse Andros. Jeff and Jane have two children, Alex (Cathy) Andros and Amy (Jeremy) Piper. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Kyah, Kamryn, Lexi and Liza Andros; Jack, Sophie and Theodore Piper. His sister Cathie Pollock resides in Birmingham, Michigan. He also leaves behind many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thank you to all the caregivers who helped extend Jeff’s life over the past several years so he could live his remaining years with dignity and integrity. The support and love of friends and family also enabled him to live life to the fullest.
