Epigmenio (Epi) Arteaga, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. He was born on August 21, 1928 in Guachochi Chihuhua, Mexico. Epi married his beloved wife Alejandra Gonzalez on January 11, 1965. They lived a few years in Acala, TX and later moved to El Paso, TX. Epi took pride in working over 30 years at the University of Texas at El Paso. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Epi’s special interest and hobbies included caring for God’s creation through gardening and taking care of his dogs, turtles, birds and doves. He was preceded by his parents, Julian and Herminia Arteaga, brothers Angel Arteaga, Efren Arteaga, sister Bertha Arteaga and son Enrique Muñoz. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alejandra Arteaga; brother Lorenzo Artiaga; sons Federico Muñoz and Manuel Muñoz; daughter Nena Arzate; 14 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.
The Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at Crestview Funeral Home. A rosary will be held that same day at 7:00 pm at Crestview Funeral Home . The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 11 at 9:00 am, at Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
