Elmer A Shannon, Jr., 83, of Midwest City, OK, passed peacefully into the arms of God, in Oklahoma City, OK, on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. Elmer was born in Oklahoma City, OK, to Elmer Sr. and Virgie Shannon on January 15, 1936. He married Yvonne M. Holmes in October of 1955 and they were happily married for 64 years.
Elmer was retired from Tinker A.F.B. in 1993, after 30+ years of civil service. Elmer and Yvonne enjoyed RV traveling to Mission, TX, over the winter time, until about 2011. Elmer has enjoyed fishing trips, in the past, with his dear fishing buddies. He has also enjoyed wood-working in his shop. Mostly, Elmer and Yvonne enjoyed their family, their dear dogs over the years, their home, and their life together. One of his favorite quotes has been, "There's no place like home."
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; daughter Diana Heath, and husband Jim; daughter Rhonda Snow, and husband Don; son, Ed Shannon, and wife Amy; daughter Joni Dallas. Grandchildren: Jenny Gregory, and husband Matt; Valerie Price, and husband Cody; Krissy Hughes, and husband Brody; Thomas Cash Caldwell, and wife Kelsey; Taylor Snow; Mikaylah Perry, and husband Drake; Samuel Shannon; Mark Dallas; Brandie Moore and husband Preston; and Britanie Dallas. Great-grandchildren: Grace and Jonas Gregory; Cody and Ty Price; Robbie, Kaden, Lex and Link Hughes; Tuck, Evee and Ben Caldwell; Clara Johnson; Kielan and Isabelle Dallas.
In addition, he is survived by his sister, Ann Stevens and his sister-in-law, Ann Shannon, as well as numerous nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond Shannon; his niece, Debbie Shannon; his brother-in-law, Archie Lee Stevens; nephew, Gerald Stevens; and great-grandchildren, Kaleb Caldwell and Rhea Johnson.
