MayDelle Helen Hoefling, 88, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2020. Born August 4, 1931 in Sac County, IA. Daughter of Joel Richard and Minnie (Nelson) Gustafson. Graduate of Kiron High School in 1948. Attended Buena Vista College obtaining her teaching certificate in 1951. United in marriage to John Junior Hoefling on December 12, 1953 in Kiron, IA. MayDelle’s employment career span from being a school teacher for Rural School in Hayes from 1949 until 1951, teaching 3rd grade in Odebolt, IA from 1951 until 1954, Secretary / Library Assistant from 1964-1967 and then Receptionst / Bookkeeper / Business Manager for Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center from 1968 until 1996. Member of First Free Evangelical Church in Rockford. MayDelle was very active within her church as a Sunday school teacher, Pioneer Girls Leader, Awana Club, Children’s church teacher, Mission Committee and was a Deaconess. In her spare time at home so found great enjoyment in sewing clothes for her grandchildren and cooking for her family.
Survived by her loving husband of 66 years, John; sons, Kevin Charles Hoefling, Kent (Pamela) Hoefling; daughter-in-law, Jean Ann Hoefling; grandchildren, Isaac Kent Hoefling, Adrian Ruth (Jason) Sherko, Micah John (Kari) Hoefling, Adele Marie Hoefling, Olivia Jeanne Larson; great-grandchildren, Raegan Key Sherko, Jadan Lewis Hoefling, Kolton Cruz Sherko, Beau Ryder Marshall, Amara Rose Sherko, Lucia Grace Sherko. Predeceased by her parents; brothers, Melvin Gustafson and Vernon Gustafson; son, Timothy John Hoefling; grandson, Jessie Lewis Hoefling.
