Aills, Lonnie Harold, passed away January 8th, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton after combating bladder cancer. He was a longtime resident of Miamisburg. Lonnie was born in Pike County, Ohio on December 30, 1925, son of Edward and Mabel (Slagel) Aills. He celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary on December 31st 2019 with his wife Wilma Jean (Gullett) Aills, who survives him.
He is also survived by his brother William Aills, daughter Susan (Aills) Hickey, granddaughter Christy Aills, granddaughter Julia Hickey (Lecours) and great grandson Micah Lecours. Lonnie was a World War II veteran in the Navy. He served as a gunner on a Liberty ship, the Alexander Hamilton, and the Carl E Ladd in the south pacific. He worked at GM Frigidaire, while building a home for his family where he lived with his wife, until he passed. He retired from GM in 1974. He was a master gardener, a farrier, enjoyed hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM followed by burial at Hillgrove Cemetery, Miamisburg. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.gebhartschmidtparramore.com
