Daniel Lee Gahagan, beloved husband and father, passed away on January 9, 2020 surrounded by close family. He was born on May 11, 1944 in Plymouth, Wisconsin, the son of Lloyd Gahagan and Arlene Brassar Gahagan. Dan married Louise Eddleman and they celebrated 45 years of marriage together.
Dan grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin before joining the US Air Force. After his service, Dan became a salesman. He could sell anything, but finally found his work home at Mercury Communications in Dallas. He had recently retired after 29 years of service. Dan loved to tinker with many projects and cars, he was always doing something or helping someone. He took great joy in his beautiful backyard where he spent much of his off time. He built a large Koi pond for Louise and they would sit on the deck he built and enjoy coffee in the mornings. Dan was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church and was active in their scripture studies class. Dan’s greatest pride was that of his family, who will miss him greatly.
Dan is survived by his wife, Louise; children Hank Graham and wife Claire, Laura Wright and husband Brad, and Bryan Gahagan; grandchildren Colin Graham, Sean Graham and wife Emily, Duncan Wright, and Graham Wright, Tommy Graham, Emily Graham; sisters JoAnne Braun and Bette Gos and husband Chuck; brother-in-law Jim Vanderkin; lifelong friend Shellye Hayden; many nieces, nephews and friends. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, son John Graham, and sister Mary Vanderkin.
A rosary will be recited at 10:00am on Thursday, January 23, 2020, immediately followed by a memorial mass at 10:30am at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Inurnment in the St. Maria Goretti Rose Garden to follow. The family invites those in attendance to join them at the parish hall for food and fellowship to follow.
