Rosemary (Morris) Cobleigh Jones, also known to loved ones as Dumpling and Memmers, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2020. She was mother to Randy Cobleigh and Linda Cobleigh, foster mother to 3 nephews, and beloved by neighborhood children for making enough pancakes for everyone on weekend mornings. Rosemary will be remembered for her open heart, twinkling blue eyes, and legendary banana cream pies.
Rosemary loved to laugh and had a sharp wit. Despite dementia, and during her last days, she could still “moo ha ha” better than any cartoon character. She would say, “If you can’t laugh, you don’t have anything!” That philosophy served her well throughout her life. Many times during her last weeks, she could still sing along with a silly family song that was passed down from her mother and previous generations.
She was a faithful contributor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, her church and to those less fortunate. As dog lover, she instilled in her family a love for animals-particularly for rescue animals in need of homes.
Throughout her career (to include being a stay-at-home mom and PTA President), Rosemary worked for Nellie Don, Westinghouse, and retired from The Builders Association as an Executive Secretary, with a focus on labor-relations.
Rosemary was preceded into God’s grace by her Mother, Genevieve Morris, her Father, Lester Morris, and two sisters, Helen Houtz and Elizabeth Ann Bean.
On February 15, 2020, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration-of-life luncheon for family and friends at Curé of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Rd, Leawood, KS 66206. Internment will be at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64131.
We wish to give special thanks to Mom’s loving caregivers from the former Cypress Springs Memory Care, Delmar Gardens of Lenexa and Ascend Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
