Born in Carvalhal Benfeito,Portugal, he was the son of the late Ernesto and Emilia Antonio, he was a longtime resident of Dartmouth. Prior to coming to the United States, he served in the Portuguese Army, during the Angolan War. He was the owner-operator of Estoril Auto Sales retiring in 2000.
Family was everything to Joaquim, especially his grandson, Brandyn. He loved his companion Tyler, was an avid Soccer fan, especially of the Sporting!!! He enjoyed the Bruins, walking on the beach, cycling and gardening.
In addition to his beloved wife, Maria whom he shared 50 years of marriage, he is survived by his loving daughter, Celia O’Neil; his grandson Brandyn O’Neil; a brother, Joaõ Antonio and his wife Zulmira of South Dartmouth; nephews Jeffrey Antonio from Fairhaven and Michael Antonio from Westport and a long list of extended family. He was the brother of the late Emilia Antonio.
Joaquim’s visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 8:30 to 9:30AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Road, South Dartmouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Julie Church, 494 Slocum Road, Dartmouth, Ma. 02747.
