Alice was born on February 28, 1926 in Dorchester, Massachusetts to Vernon and Margaret Wood. Alice, while in high school, met and married the love of her life, Edward “Eddie” in the year 1942. After which, Eddie was summoned to serve during WWII. In addition, Alice worked in the munitions plant that required her to have a secret clearance; while Eddie, was away at sea serving in the Navy. She and Eddie were based in Panama, Guam, Bermuda, and several different islands while serving our country; in addition, they were also stationed in Virginia, Maine, New Jersey, Maryland, and California. Years later, Alice volunteered to serve in local hospitals. They adopted and welcomed their son, Daniel into their home when he was a newborn baby. A few years later, they adopted and welcomed their daughter, 3 year old, Debbie into their home. Daniel and Debbie completed Alice’s and Eddie’s dream of having a family.
During the year’s that Eddie served, Alice was a supportive, nurturing, loving wife and mother. She also performed in Navy Base shows, as a singer, dancer and comedian. She was involved in many Navy wives projects. She loved to swim, camp, crochet, ride her bike and loved to shop and buy anything that was purple and sparkly. Eddie and Alice retired to San Jose, CA, in 1974 where they built a home and enjoyed the company of children and grandchildren. Three years after Eddie passed away (2010), Alice moved to Port. St. Lucie, FL (2013) to live close to her niece, Kathy and her husband Phil, who introduced her to their Elks club where she found her love of Karaoke and performed in many Elk shows up until 2018. Alice recorded a CD in 2014 of her singing seventeen of her favorite country songs. During her years in California and Florida, Alice made many, many friends which resulted in her giving away many of her CD’s. Friends to Alice became instant family, she never met a stranger and will always and forever be our Aunt Alice and in our hearts.
