Cherished husband, father, and brother was an MTA retiree
Longtime Staten Island resident John Enright passed away on Jan. 22, 2020, at Richmond University Medical Center, surrounded by his wife of 47 years, Denise (née Connors) and his daughters, Jane and Jill.
John worked for thirty years as a bus driver for the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) before retiring in 2005. He also served his country in the US Army and Army National Guard, retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 2003. Notably, John was activated with his NYARNG unit and responded to the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
He was an avid reader who especially enjoyed sci-fi books and he often wore his favorite T-shirt that read, Trust Me I'm A Jedi. John had a quick wit and keen sense of humor that was enjoyed by many. Much to the relief of his family, he was often known to fix things with everyday items such as rubber bands or duct tape, earning the nickname MacGyver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth, and sisters, Patricia and Elizabeth; he has one surviving sister Jacqueline. He has a large extended family and he will be missed by all, especially by his wife and daughters.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Wounded Warrior Project or the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation on John's behalf.
Visitation is Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Casey Funeral home, with a Funeral Mass at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Teresa of The Infant Jesus.

Our Father, which art in heaven,Hallowed be thy Name.Thy Kingdom come.Thy will be done in earth,As it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,As we forgive them that trespass against us.And lead us not into temptation,But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,The power, and the glory,For ever and ever.Amen.
