Mr. Vincent M’baya Nangoy Chibweth was born on the 12th day of December 1959 in Lubumbashi, the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa to the late Mr. M’baya Kitambala Tshikomb and madam Wabwila Mpeza. He is survived by his lovely widow Belange and five children.
After a courageous four-year battle with colon cancer, he succumbed on Tuesday January 28th 2020 at Houston Northwest Medical Centre.
Fondly known to his peers as Thos, the late Mr. Chibweth was the fifth born child in a family of six. Mr. Chibweth attended Catholic educational training from elementary through to high school where he graduated with excellent language skills. He mastered French, English, Swahili, Bemba, Nyanja and his native Lunda.
He will be best remembered for his affable and jovial character.
Mr. Chibweth had a very strong personality.
He was ambitious, brave and generous.
he was reliable and ready to help anyone at any moment.
he was disciplined and engrained in himself values that embraced humanity.
he was a mentor to most of us. he loved to joke.
he loved writing and reading; his favorite book was the Bible.
EDUCATION & CAREER
In pursuit of his post high school career in 1980, Mr. Chibweth left the DRC for neigbouring Zambia where he attended college
In Zambia, his tertiary career did not immediately start until two years later. As the strong-willed man he was, he withered the challenges that come with settling down in a new environment.
In 1982, he finally was admitted to Nkhrumah Teacher’s Training College in Kabwe, Zambia and graduated with a diploma in English.
While at college, he met Ms. Doreen Dora who he later married in 1990. Together they had two children - Kabamba Chibweth and Kaseba Chibweth. They later divorced.
After graduation at Nkrumah College, Mr. Chibweth left Kabwe to teach French, Mathematics and English at the Kamwala Secondary School in the Zambian capital, Lusaka.
In 1986, he moved to Botswana in enroute to the United States in pursuit of a better life.
Two years later, he realized his dream of migrating to the USA and settled in Portland, Maine.
In 1994, Mr. Chibweth moved to San Diego, California and joined the US Navy where he served for nine years until his honorary discharge in 2003.
In 2004, he graduated from the National University in San Diego/California with a bachelor’s degree in Business & Accounting as a minor.
In 2004, he joined the Federal Department of Treasury and a year later was assigned to the Department of the Navy.
In 2008, Mr. Chibweth, joined the Federal Department of Interior Services in Houston, TX where he worked and lived until his demise.
For the love of education, he continued pursuing his studies and at the time of his death was studying for a master’s degree in Business at Strayer University.
FAMILY
Mr. Chibweth remarried in 2012 and is survived by his widow Belange Chibweth with whom he had three children Valiance, Kasanga and Mwad.
