Geneva was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Joseph Speas in 2002, son Paul Speas, daughter Shirley Wilson, brothers Bernard York, John Rodney York, and grandchildren Shannon and Kirk Wilson.
Surviving are her son Stephen (Debra) Speas, step-son George (Nadine) Speas, step-daughters Eileen (Kenneth "Red") McIntyre, Sharon (Mark) Engle, Valerie (Ernie) Morgan, grandchildren Chelsea and Brandea Speas, their mother Joy Speas as well as numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Ronald (Janiece) York, sister-in-law Frances York and many nieces and nephews.
Geneva will be remembered for her loving and giving spirit. She was an accomplished pianist and organist in the area assisting with weddings, funerals and camp meetings. She ministered to countless people throughout the years through her music. She worked for 26 years at Diamond Reo Trucking company and was very proud of her 21 years at MSU as a secretary to the Dean, and five professors in the College of Education. Geneva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She loved the Lord and serving Jesus Christ. She will truly be missed.
Please join her family for Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at South Church of the Nazarene (401 W. Holmes Rd., Lansing, Michigan 48910) where her Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow. Private Interment in East Sebewa Cemetery, Sunfield, Michigan.
