Adeline ‘Addie’ Spillar Renfro, 92, passed away Wednesday morning, January 29, 2020. Addie was born April 14, 1927 in Austin, Texas to JD and Mary Ethel Spillar. She grew up in Austin, but resided the last 51 years in Leander, Texas. She graduated from Austin High School in 1945.
Addie married David Samuel Hunt in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1960. Addie married Bill Renfro on July 24, 1964. They shared 34 years together until his death in 1998. Addie retired from civil service with the Texas National Guard and then from the City of Leander.
Addie loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed going to flea markets, traveling, hunting, and fishing, but her passion was horses. Addie and her husband Bill were one of the founding families of Brushy Creek Saddle Club and she rode until her late 70’s. Addie never missed a chance to ride her beloved horse Kelly.
Addie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sons Rick Renfro and Terry Renfro, her sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Bob Burke, her brother Jerry Spillar, brother-in-law Dave Renfro, and daughter-in-law Linda Renfro-Dufner.
Addie is survived by her daughter, Ginny Atkinson and husband Frank of Davilla, Texas; son-in-law Rock Dufner of Briggs, Texas; four grandchildren, Landon Renfro, Kristin Radel and husband Matt, Bryan Renfro, and Rebecca Gonzalez and husband Ramiro; ten great grandchildren, Kathryn, TJ, Billy Joe, Kaylee, Harper, Jacob, Isaac, Abigail, Joshua, and Jonathon; two sisters, Joy Purcell and husband Bob and Peggy Biros; two sister-in-laws, Irene Renfro and Gail Spillar Pelath; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Traditions Hospice and Cedar Pointe Health and Wellness Center for their compassionate care of Addie.
Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm Monday, February 3, 2020 at Cook Walden Davis Funeral Home, Georgetown, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 2pm at the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park in Austin, Texas.
