Rachel was born in Austin, TX on October 25, 1963. She was diagnoses with epilepsy as a child at 6 years old. She worked at the Big Wheel Truck Stop in Austin, TX in her early 20’s before becoming a homemaker raising her children as a single mother. Rachel was a self-proclaimed writer with a passion for writing poems and her thoughts about life and God. She loved to crochet and cross stitch. Playing card games with her family was also a favorite pastime. Her favorite card games were crazy eight and rummy. Rachel would always be found with a Coca-Cola in one hand and a cigarette in the other while listening to music with the windows open. She loved Texas country music and listening to the “oldies but goodies” as she would say. Willie Nelson was one of her favorites.
Rachel’s father, Thomas Lee Attebury of Austin, TX, passed away May 31, 2012. Rachel is survived by her mother, Mary Ann Attebury of Austin, TX; brother, Adam Boyd Attebury of Austin, TX, and sister, Faith Attebury Miracle of Big Spring, TX; three children, Krista Leeann Jameson, of Brenham, TX, Matthew Boyd Attebury, of Irving, TX and her biological son Dillon Alfred Bessin, of West Lake Hills, TX; grandchildren, Thomas Isiac Maldonado of Buckholts, TX, Brianna Nicole Maldonado of Brenham, TX, Ashlee Lynn Jameson of Austin, TX, Joshua Ray Jameson of Austin, TX, and Mariana (aka Mari) Elise Dulevitz of Brenham, TX; nieces, Emma Grace Miracle and Kayla Hope Miracle and her nephews Andrew Wade Miracle and Joseph Cole Miracle, all of Big Spring, TX; as well as many cousins.
Rachel’s comfort during her final days was provided by St. Gabriel’s Hospice of Austin.
A small graveside gathering for close friends and family will held while she is laid to rest in her final resting place, at 1:00pm on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, located at 6300 West William Cannon Dr. Austin, TX 78749.
The family invites you to join them for a celebration of life lunch following the service at Golden Corral Buffet & Grill located at 7300 S IH 35 Frontage Rd. Austin, TX 78745. The lunch will be a self-pay.
