The lives of the family of Richard Ian Sisiaskit Jules were changed forever by his sudden and unexpected passing at the age of 48 in November of 2019.
Richard, affectionately known as ‘Ricky’ or ‘Little Rick’ to many, was born in Kamloops, BC on August 27, 1971. Having lived in that city for most of his life, he graduated from Kamloops Secondary School; going on to earn several certificates, including silviculture, a field he enjoyed working in. Later on, he worked as a landscaper for TteS, and loved helping Elders maintain their yards.
Although he lived in Kamloops most of his life, Ricky was fortunate to have travelled to Austria with a cultural exchange program, an experience he recalled often with pride. He also loved travelling to Prince Rupert, where he explored the local hiking trails and collected eagle feathers.
Ricky will always be remembered as a kind, generous, and giving person. He would literally give the coat or shirt off his back to someone in need. He would give his food away to someone who was hungry and would often buy hamburgers for the homeless; he was also known to feed his neighbourhood stray cats and adopted many throughout the years. Ricky loved all animals but he had a special affinity for his cats!
His proudest moments were finding out that he was going to become a father and the day his daughter, Savanna Jules, was born. Ricky was a devoted and loving father, having spent many happy days piggy-backing his little girl all over town and playing with her at local parks and beaches. Nothing made him light up more than talking about his daughter, or spending time with her.
Ricky is survived by his father Richard Jules Sr. (Judy), sisters Vanessa Sheehan, Dana Jules (Mother Lucy Jules), and Selina Monti, his brother Aaron Walsh (Rachel), niece Dayanara Jules, loving daughter Savanna Jules, his uncle Robert Jules, aunty Vivian Jules (Reggie), cousins DJ and Gordie Jules, his great friend Larry Green, his cats Crowly and Squirrel, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is predeceased by his grandmothers Maria Jules and Lorraine Seymour, mother Rebbecca Seymour, aunt Carol Blank (nee Jules), uncle Timothy `Calfeye` Jules, uncle Dave Seymour, sister Tonia Jules, and favourite cat Donuts.
A Celebration of Ricky`s life will be held at a later date due to the COVID-19 situation.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kamloops Wildlife Park in Ricky`s name – a fitting tribute to a man who loved animals so much.
