Cynthia “Cindy” Sue Perry (née Fugitt) passed away following a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer on February 6, 2020, at the age of 61. Cindy is survived by her husband, Toby Perry; five children: Becky Ricketts and her husband Rodman, Adam Perry and his wife Lauren, Jared Perry, Christine Pickard and her husband Ryan, and Emma Perry; her parents, Bill and Sue Fugitt; her sister, Debbie Almohandis; her brother-in-law, Todd Perry; her sister-in-law, Tracy Wade and her husband Mark; four grandchildren: Madison Perry, Oliver Perry, Theodore Perry, and Lydia Ricketts; two nieces, Deena Kirkland and her husband Robby, and Molly Wade; and two nephews, Sammy Almohandis and his wife Jordan, and Fletcher Wade.
Cindy was born October 1, 1958, in Geneva, Illinois, to Bill and Sue Fugitt. The Fugitt family moved more than 15 times in the course of Col. (Ret.) Fugitt’s Army career before they were posted to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where Cindy graduated as valedictorian of the Lawton High School Class of 1976. Cindy graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. She met her future husband, Toby, at the University of Oklahoma, and they married on September 6, 1981. After graduation, Cindy joined Shell Oil Company as an exploration geophysicist and worked there for three years, until her oldest daughter, Becky, was born. She then devoted the rest of her life to raising her family and homeschooling her five children.
Cindy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend; a homeschool mom for 28 years; a longtime member at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, where she faithfully volunteered in the Adult Education, Missions, and Children’s Ministries; a founding member of Sugar Creek Christian Home Educators, where she served as president for nine years; and a board member of First Colony Homeschool Ensembles. Cindy loved preparing special family meals, taking walks and playing games with her grandchildren, serving her Joint Venture-Family Bible Fellowship classes, teaching the kindergarten “Happy Fishermen” Sunday School class, and encouraging others in her church and homeschool communities. She also loved to support and pray for a number of ministries with local, national, and global impact, including Worldview Academy, Escondido Tutorial Service, and Hilltop of Hope. Cindy’s favorite pastimes included listening to the great hymns of the faith, gardening in her backyard, and taking family road trips to national parks throughout the American West.
The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center for their faithful care for Cindy during the final year of her life. Cindy fought her cancer with great courage and without fear, and her hope of eternal salvation in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has been an inspiration to countless family and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 13, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek. A funeral is scheduled for Friday, February 14, at 10:00 a.m. at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, followed by a burial at Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Cindy’s name to the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Missions Fund.

I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no, never, no, never forsake!” — “How Firm a Foundation”
