She was born on April 24, 1921, to Harry Stone and Elizabeth Ruscsin Stone in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
Always known as Peg, she was a graduate of Harbor High School in Ashtabula, Ohio, where she excelled in home economics and loved singing in the school choir.
She married Edward T. Schillo on June 6, 1946. They had one son, Gregory, who also was graduated from his mother’s high school alma mater. She later married a second time to Louis R. Matyas.
Peg was a superb homemaker for many years and later retired from hospital admissions work in the Cleveland, Ohio, area.
She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and great cook. She enjoyed fishing with Lou, her second husband. Her fondest times were celebrating the gathering of family and friends with good food.
Peg is survived by her son, Greg Schillo, and Nancy, his wife; as well as their children, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Carolyn, and Catherine, their spouses, and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harry (Jerry) and Robert, and her first and second husbands.
She will be memorialized when COVID-19 concerns subside at Mt. Paran North Church of God, 1700 Allgood Road, Marietta GA, with Dr. Kirk Walters officiating. Burial of her ashes will occur at the gravesite of her parents in Ashtabula, Ohio.
