Norma arrived and blessed this world on February 2, 1947. Her parents, Norman and Rosalie Barker could not have been happier to hold their first beautiful bundle of joy. As the oldest sibling of nine children, Norma acted as a surrogate mother and doting big sister. She would take her loving hands and make spaghetti and meatballs for her brothers and sisters when mother simply needed to rest her weary feet. Norma was a beautiful young girl who loved a great movie. One of her favorite films was Imitation of Life. This touching story brought her to tears each time she watched it. Norma matriculated in the NYC Public School system, eventually attending local college where she trained as an Executive Secretary. Norma was employed at Group Health Incorporated (GHI) from 1997 to 2005 when GHI became Emblem Health. She worked for Emblem Health until she retired in 2006. Norma was married to the late Ezra (Ezzy) James Dalton and together, they raised Curt, John Craig (deceased) and Desiree. Her grandchildren, Jontai, Yashee, Rachel and Raymond as well as her great-grandchildren Marc, Kaden, Jamari, and a new bundle due in March were the proverbial "apple of Norma's eyes". Norma and Ezzy fulfilled their role as grandparents with love and affection. Norma enjoyed reading, watching movies (especially Game of Thrones) and talking to family members. Each Thanksgiving at Norma's home was a time for joyous family reunions with delicious food in abundance. Everyone left her home overloaded with love and leftovers. Her family was her life and her greatest joy. She took the time to demonstrate her love for them every day with a warm smile, a hug and a stern look, when necessary. Predeceased by her siblings Reginald and Faye, Norma also leaves to cherish in her memory, siblings, Michael, Kathleen, Carol, Steven, Alan, Kevin, countless cousins, and her cherished in-laws and extended family, the Daltons.
