Age 62, of Sydney, NS, following a car accident on 2ndFebruary 2020. Loved father of Eugénie, Geoffrey, Clotilde and Aubert Mailhot-Sanche; loving grandfather to Adèle (Eugenie and Jean-Gabriel Pothier), and AzélieApril (Clotilde). Born in Shawinigan, Québec to Estelle and Amédée Mailhot, J-F was a gifted pipe organ builder, voicer, technician and tuner, working on many international projects with Orgues Létourneau of St Hyacinthe, Quebec, before leaving the company to continue his trade in the east. Covering all of the Atlantic Provinces, he became highly respected as one who could transform an ailing instrument into a thing of beauty, while keeping costs to a minimum. Having a generous and amiable personality, and a great sense of humour, he made many friends. After moving to Sydney, NS, he continued his organ work to a lesser degree, but also joined Parks Canada at Fortress Louisbourg during the summer season. He entertained tourists in many roles as a costumed 18th century inhabitant and musician, skillfully repairing and playing unfamiliar instruments such as harpsichord, hurdy-gurdy and droneflute. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
