James was preceded in death by his parents, Hetty and James H. LaQuey, Sr; brother Richard LaQuey "Dickie"; sister Barbara Carroll "Honeybee"; and foster son Bobby Gill. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Rosemary LaQuey; son Rick LaQuey and wife JoAnn; daughters and son-in laws Judy and Bill Murray, Christy and Rocky Engemoen, Kathy and Tony Imondi, Teresa and Randy Ackerman. Also missing him are his sixteen grandchildren: Jessica Gillespie, Dr. Rebecca LaQuey, Mary Rooke, Susan Field, Jacquelyn Marlar, Rosemary Ehlers, Evelyn Murray, Jennifer Frasure, Todd Engemoen, Scott Imondi, Brad Imondi, Zach Imondi, Autumn Lewis, Jeremy Ackerman, Paul Ackerman, Allie Ackerman, as well as thirty seven great-grandchildren.
After attending Woodrow Wilson High School, he entered the US Air Force for two years. In 1951, he married his sweetheart, Rosemary. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on Feb 3, 2020. As a young man, James held a variety jobs. He finished his career as a long haul truck driver, earning the prestigious award for safely driving one million miles without an accident.
Later in life, James became a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Upon entering the Catholic Church, he lived out his faith for the rest of his life. James was very proud of his family and loved them deeply. He had a very special relationship with the many pets in his life.
James will be sincerely missed by both family and friends.
