Allyn Ray Pratt passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Meadows Place, Texas on February 9, 2020 at the age of 73. He was a warrior for much of his life, battling heart disease and diabetes, ultimately losing that battle.
Allyn was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Jo Pratt; father, Raymond Eugene Pratt; brother, James Calvin Pratt; sister, Brenda Gay Gerth; sister, Cynthia Pratt Bigger; father-in-law Samuel Savoie and mother-in-law Mabel Savoie. Allyn is survived by his wife of 40 years, Miriam (Mim) Louise Pratt; Daughter, Terri Pratt Tyler and husband Peter; Daughter, Krystal Cheree Pratt; Son, Ryan Allen Pratt and wife Theresa; Grandchildren, Shannon Pratt Tyler, Weston Pratt Tyler, Destany Ann Williams, Alyssa Marron Williams, Kinsley Marie Pratt, Brooklyn Carter Pratt and Preston Ryan Pratt. He is also survived by his sister, Melody Pratt Benge and husband Brian; Brother-in-law, Richard R. Gerth: Sister-in-law, Brenda Ann Pratt; Brother-in-law, Dale Norman Bigger; Brother-in-law, Louis Dean Savoie; Sister-in-law, Tammy Marie Savoie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Allyn was born on November 17, 1946 in Orange, Texas to Raymond Eugene and Carolyn Jo Pratt. He graduated from Smiley High School in 1964 and studied Engineering at UH for several years after. He married Miriam Louise Pratt in 1979. Allyn began working as a machinist for many years in the Oil & Gas industry in Houston, which blossomed into a lifelong career as a Mechanical Designer. He worked for Kinley Corporation for over 25 years, followed by a career at Schlumberger for over 15 years. He retired from Schlumberger in December 2019 and had only just started enjoying the retirement life that he had worked for decades to achieve. He loved his family, and his 3 children were his pride and joy and loved to brag on them any chance he got. He was always learning new things and loved sharing his infinite wisdom and knowledge with his kids, family and friends. He was an amazing father who always encouraged his children to pursue their dreams and goals.
Allyn was a talented guitar player and passionate about music, hunting, fishing, travelling and all things outdoors. He was incredibly smart and analytical; his attention to detail was impeccable. He was generous, had a great sense of humor, and always had something witty to say, even in tough times. He was an active and dedicated member of the NRA and a devout Christian.
A memorial service honoring his life is scheduled for Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2:00pm at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
