Eileen King, 83, of Stony Point, New York, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 9, 2020. Born June 3, 1936 in the Bronx, NY, she is predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Bridget Sheehan, her sister Mary Rooney and her late husband of 40 years, Thomas King.
Upon graduation from Catholic high school in the Bronx, she went to work for Peter L. Bernstein at Bernstein-Macauley, one of the top investment management firms in NYC. Soon thereafter, she married Thomas King and relocated to Rockland County to raise a family, while continuing to work part-time as a teaching assistant before starting a new career in accounts management with Helen Hayes Hospital, where she worked for more than 20 years. In spite of her busy schedule she managed to donate time to the VFW ladies auxiliary, and various events for the B.P.O. Elks in Haverstraw, NY.
Those who knew her well, remember her tremendous smile and laughter, her culinary talents - especially her Irish pot roast and soda bread - her passion for playing cards, board games, her interest in antiques, horse racing and the occasional trip to Atlantic City, and her stunning handicraft work in crochet - a lifelong hobby which she embraced right up to her final days.
Eileen is survived by her son Brian King, daughter Kerry and her husband Boris Sokolohorsky, her two grandchildren, Andrew and Julia Sokolohorsky and her brother John Sheehan.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday February 12th from 4pm to 8pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 73N. Liberty Drive, Stony Point.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church 26 Jay Street, Stony Point.
