MCMAHON, Shirley H. – of Dartmouth, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020, in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born March 2, 1931, in Wentworth Creek, NS, she was the daughter of the late James William and Florence (Baxter) Riley. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband Malcolm and brothers Francis and Ernest. She will be profoundly missed by daughters; Lou-Ann (Jim) Covill, Shauna (Andy Marshall) McMahon, sister; Marilyn (Blaine) Newcombe, sisters-in-law; Sara Riley and Vivienne Riley. Shirley was a graduate of the Windsor School of Business. Her career included administrative roles in various hospitals and municipal and provincial government departments. She later enjoyed volunteering in various roles in support of her children and husband. She was a tremendously giving and supportive Mom, sibling and friend who enjoyed spending time with family and sharing her kindness and humour, including a good April Fool’s Day prank. Shirley devoted herself to family, pets and grandpets, always having a treat on hand. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds, country drives, fresh baked treats and competing in an annual amaryllis growing competition with son-in-law Jim. She leaves her loved ones with an abundance of wonderful memories. In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family burial to take place at a later date in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
