He graduated from Barbers Hill High School and also attended Lee College in Baytown, Texas. He served in the Army Reserve, and worked as a chemical plant operator for United Rubber and Chemical Company, U.S.I., Highlands Shell, and Mobay (now Bayer Corp.), where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of Wallisville UMC, St. John’s UMC, and Buffalo UMC, and served as the Chairman of the Board for St. John’s UMC. He loved to camp, fish garden, read books on history, and work on his property in Buffalo, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bryant W. and Myrta L. Rhodes, his brother Bryant W. Rhodes Jr. and wife Doris, brother William R. Rhodes and wife Delores, and his sister Jean Olson. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine Rhodes; his children, Cara Skinner and her husband Larry and Bryant Rhodes and his wife Tanya; his grandchildren, Christopher Russell and his wife Amanda, Caitlin Rhodes, Ashley Meyer, and Blane Rhodes; and his nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive in Georgetown, Texas on February 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Friendship, Texas with a graveside service at 2:00 p.m.
