Craig resident, Elaine Joy Kopsa died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Memorial Regional Health in Craig. She was 78. Upon her request, no services will be held.
Elaine Joy (Saffer) Kopsa was born to Avon and Edith (Dolifka) Saffer on August 14, 1941 in Flagler, Colorado. She spent her childhood near Arriba, Colorado, and attended a one room schoolhouse in Pleasant Hill. She later transferred to Anton and finished her schooling in Arriba.
On December 11, 1966, Elaine married the love of her life, Don Kopsa. To this union, three children were born. Elaine and Don had the honor of celebrating their 53rd anniversary last year.
Elaine worked at Bonaker and Associates for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She also loved to go camping, going on cruises and traveling south for the winters. Elaine will be remembered fondly for her beautiful flower gardens that flourished in her yard every year. Above all, Elaine was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to love and know her.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Don Kopsa; three children: Gregg (Stephanie) Kopsa, Kent (Anessa) Kopsa and Nikki Kopsa; nine grandchildren: Conner, Kyle, Joel, Meredith, Kendra, Teagan, Tristian, Tauren and Trinity; and two great-grandchildren, Brody and Nixon.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, sister Velda and nephews Mike and Dan Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Elaine’s memory to Moffat County Humane Society in care of Grant Mortuary.
