Gusti, as she was affectionately known, touched everyone she met with her gentleness, smile, patience, kindness and love.
Gusti was born on October 21, 1929 in Reicheneau, Austria. Her incredible journey to the United States is a true testament to hope, endurance, perseverance and strength. Gusti worked at the The Southern New England Telephone Co. before owning Pat’s Marina in Stamford. She found her most rewarding work experience caring for a family in Armonk, NY whose relationship has continued through all these years.
Her love of reading, baking and travelling, especially to Austria to visit her sister, Kathi Eichinger, brought her much enjoyment. She found great comfort and peace in attending Beacon Hill Church in Monroe. Her church family was so important to her.
Gusti believed her greatest joy in life was the times she spent with her children, Gary (Becky) Chirillo of Florida and Carol (Jimmy) Alberts of Monroe. Her enthusiasm for life will be carried on by her grandchildren, Ross James Alberts, Lindsay, Joseph, Joshua, Jordan, Josiah, John and Joy Chirillo. Her laughter and stories will live on in her many nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as Gucki. She remembered the time spent with them as some of her fondest memories.
Gusti was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Maxwell and her son-in-law, Jim Alberts.
Visitation will take place at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe, on Friday, February 28 from 4-7PM. A funeral service will be held, Saturday, February 29, 10AM at Beacon Hill Evangelical Free Church, 371 Old Zoar Road in Monroe.
