It is with great sadness that we, the family of Agnes Marie Dauphinee announce her passing at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil's Harbour on March 1, 2020. Born in Ingonish Center on January 21, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Ronald Joseph Dauphinee and Mary Agatha (Hawley) Dauphinee. Agnes was a graduate of the Secretarial program at Mt. Saint Bernard College in Antigonish, NS. Previous to her retirement, she worked in Finance for Council of Maritime Premiers and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Agnes unselfishly spent her years after retirement providing love and support for her family members. She always put family needs ahead of her own. In recent years, she loved to spend her time reading, watching figure skating, completing puzzles, and spending hours visiting and having phone conversations with her many friends. Agnes enjoyed hosting holiday meals with her family, especially her nieces and nephews, who were the lights of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Agnes was predeceased by her parents and her brother Wayne. She is survived by her brothers, Brian (Gail), West Paradise; Ronnie, North Sydney, and Larry (Sue), Ingonish Beach. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Dana, Collin, Joseph, Beverly, Kevin; and great-niece and nephews, Brianna, Hayden and Sam. A time of visitation will take place from 11am until 1pm with a funeral mass starting at 1 pm on Saturday, Mar. 7 all in St. Peter's Church, Ingonish with Father Alphonsus Iwuji officiating. Special thanks to the staff at Buchanan Memorial Hospital for the great care they provided to Agnes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to North of Smokey Palliative Care.
