she returned to her loving savior surrounded by her husband of 62 years,
Hugo and her son Robby, his wife Kelly and grandsons Wyatt and Jacob.
She was the third child of Frank and Augusta Klein. Mary was a joyful
soul with a heart of gold.
Mary married the love of her life Hugo, on November 24, 1957 in
Schulenburg. She said it was so cold and icy she didn’t know if she would
make it to the Church. Following her marriage, she and Hugo lived in San
Marcos and Houston before finally returning to Flatonia to raise their sons,
Randy and Robby.
After moving to Flatonia she worked for lawyer, Sam Arnim before
beginning work at the Flatonia schools. She was secretary to the
Superintendent until her retirement following 21 years of service. She
loved the people she worked with making life-long friends. She said they
worked hard but laughed often and it was the best job she could have had.
She and Hugo also opened and still own Circle W Feed which she has kept
the books for the last 40 years up until her illness in October.
Mary was active in the community as well as the school, she was a room
mother, cub scout den mother, holding various PTA positions. She was
always willing to help wherever there was a need.
She was a faithful servant of the Lord teaching Sunday School, VBS,
member of WOM and a part of the hostess committee. She was always
available to bake, cook a meal, serve a dinner to those in need. She sent
cards and letters to those that needed encouragement as well as calling to
check in on her friends and those on the prayer list when she was able.
Her family always knew she prayed for them and they were never far from
her thoughts.
Even as her health began to fail she attended church as often as possible.
Attended her grandsons and great-granddaughter’s activities to cheer
them on and offer support. Through all of her trials her smile never
wavered. She trusted in the Lord’s plan for her life and the belief we will
all be together in eternity.
