Paul E. Pennie, 76, of Mansfield, passed away on March 7, 2020. Born February 26, 1944 in Boston. He was the son of the late Paul and Helen (Cahill) Pennie. Paul is survived by beloved wife of 52 years, Doris (Schiffer) Pennie; his loving children Christopher Pennie and wife Margaret, Lori Graham and husband Christopher, Karin Gavin and husband Brian; 7 adored grandchildren, Amanda Pennie, Patrick, Nicholas and Christopher Graham, Declan, Ronan and Molly Gavin; his cherished sister Jean (Pennie) Gouthro and pre-deceased by his sister Margaret (Pennie) Roach.
Paul held many roles during his life including student (WIT), citizen/soldier - National Guard, the best dressed valet at the Copley Plaza Hotel, draftsman, architectural job captain and construction / permitting manager but none could deny the sarcastic wit that he brought to each position. God forbid if you were the unlucky cohort to go toe to toe unarmed, with his quick retorts.
He was passionate about golf and was a founding member of the Mensa Society- Lafayette House Chapter which met most afternoons from 2-5. Thankfully nobody took meeting minutes. Paul enjoyed traveling with his wife, was an avid reader and enjoyed late afternoon cocktails with close friends and family on the Cape. Nothing meant more to him than his grandchildren, they always kept him smiling.
Paul’s wishes were to have a visitation for everyone to be able to gather together, enjoy a laugh, share stories and remember his life. There will be a private celebration of life for Paul at a later date.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 11th from 4 to 8pm at Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Paul’s honor to the MDS Foundation at https://www.mds-foundation.org/donate/ and/or Seasons Hospice 8537 Solution Center, Chicago, IL 60677.
