P.C. Thomaskutty Kappamammoottil (Ranny Achayan) was born in Kandenperoor, Ranny on November 16, 1937 and his siblings are late P.C. Mathew, late Chinamma, late Kunjunjamma, late P.C. Abraham and the surviving brothers are P.C. George, P.C. Jacob, Babukutty James, S.P. James, Prasad K. Chacko.
P.C. Thomaskutty was married to Marykutty Thomas on May 30th, 1963. He is blessed with 4 children and their names are Ani & Sunny Mathew (Joel & Sophie, Jeff), Mini & Sabu Vettappala (Aksa & Mathew Ebenezer - Ephraim, Dona, Abel & Dean), Pr. Manoj Thomas & Lovely Manoj (Dane, Dave & Dale), Binu & Abraham Baby (Jabson). P.C. Thomaskutty’s wife was promoted to glory on August 12th 2011.
Our Appachan was very smart and intelligent, he was a multilingual scholar who is obsessed with words and with remarkable memory. He was accepted by community and the people who came to know him and he knew how to relate to all ages, especially with children and young people. he drew so many peoples as his followers through his enthusiasm towards sports.
Appachan's mission is to support the underprivileged team and bring them back into the game. There will always be a large crowd to shout at him. Most of them are children and young people. Because of his sportsman spirit. He went to American Embassy as self-sponsor and requested a visa to attend the World cup in the United States in 1994 and he made it. Appachan by profession was a Civil Engineer and came to Kerala after a career in the Gulf and became well known in the world as “Ranny Achayan”.
Appachan was not just a sports lover but he impressed and touched many lives with his “All India Peace Tour against alcohol and drugs”. Learning language and communication was not a problem for him. He was fluent in 10 languages including English, Hindi, Urdu, Tamil, Gujarati, Arabic etc.
In his career life Appachan also worked as a professor at Kodaikanal Christian College and was a visiting professor at some colleges in Kerala. The subject was Communicative English.
Appachan loved traveling and he went all over India in his car and he drew all the way to Bombay to see his oldest daughter several times. He always find a way to ease up a critical moment, one time he was admitted to the hospital, after returning from the hospital he told his friends that he was in the "ICU" and said God told me, I SEE YOU and his phrase was “Borrow Happiness from Sorrow”. He always reminds people to avoid tension in a short span of time. He was a very good heart driven evangelist on his travels he stops his car in cities and junctions in Kerala and start preaching through open air meetings. He also loved Music and Singing. Through his good deeds he drew many to Christ. He was a good-hearted man who appreciated and encouraged others.
It is rare that Appachan lived such a cool life in one lifetime. Appachan, who had been in the US multiple time and this time he stayed longer with all his children with great joy and happiness. The sun set on him on March 7th, 2020 at 4:23pm. Our Appachen will be a great loss to all of us and the one he loved. But we have a marvelous hope that we will see our Appachan on that day with all the saints on the midair cloud.
