Born in Manhattan, NY on January 2, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Emile and Carolyn Detjen. Cathy devoted her career to helping others. She worked for many years as a CNA and Home Health Aide. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Home Instead Senior Care.
Cathy loved her country and was a firm believer in the Constitution. She was an avid Football fan, particularly adored Tom Brady, and could be heard cheering from her home whenever a game was on. She also loved celebrating Christmas, had an affinity for animals, and loved the original Star Trek.
Cathy had a way of making friends everywhere she went. She will always be remembered for her outgoing, personable, and empathetic nature. She was a spiritual woman and firmly believed in finding the beauty in everything. She instilled a selfless nature in her children and taught them "No matter how the world gets you down, remember to be kind."
Above all, spending time with those she loved was most important to Cathy. She was the rock of her family and will be deeply missed.
Cathy is survived by her two children, Barbara J. Detjen, and Steven Monks; a sister, Barbara Bertrand; a brother, Derek H. Detjen; and a close family friend, Karen Prescott.
She was predeceased by two close family friends, Sue LaPlante, and Wayne Prescott.
At the family’s request, services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made in Cathy’s name to the MSPCA, 1577 Falmouth Rd, Centerville, MA 02632. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.doanebealamesdennis.com
