It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Audrey Donovan, age 86, at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, March 12, 2020. Born on September 21, 1933 in Ingonish Beach, Audrey was the daughter of the late Patrick and Viola (Cann) Williams. Mom was a loving mother to Debbie, Diane, Graham and Blair. She was the very cherished grandmother of Deron, Joel, Allison, Jeff, Nicole, Ashley, Joey and her 15 great grandchildren. Mom was “Our Rock”– she always had our back; whenever her help was needed she was there! Mom loved to cook and many delicious, family Sunday dinners were enjoyed at her home. Mom’s baking skills were second to none. She made the best pies ever and her homemade bread and rolls could not be resisted. She often baked and gave it to her family and friends in her sweet, kind way. Mom was also blessed with a green thumb. She was never happier than when working in her beautiful garden amid her lovely flowers and shrubs. Mom was a very active member of her community and her church. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir for many years. She was a member of the Altar Society and helped to put on a yearly bazaar and other fundraisers. She was a volunteer for Club 55 and ran the Sunday evening card games for several years. She also helped with the Heart and Stroke campaigns. Mom loved music. There was always music playing in her home and we thank her for passing that love of music and song onto her children and grandchildren.Besides her children and grandchildren, mom is survived by her siblings, Beatrice, Blanche and Bill. Mom was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Herbert J. Donovan, brothers Albert and Ralph and her cherished son-in-law Frank Donovan. Special thanks to the staff at Buchanan Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care mom received in her final days on earth helping to make those days more peaceful not only for mom, but for her family as well. Funeral Mass will be at 11am on Aug 19 at St. Peter's Church in Ingonish, Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund, Palliative Care or Buchanan Memorial Hospital Foundation.
