Charles grew up in Cincinnati, and lost his father at the age of 11. When he was young he was nicknamed "Hopie" because when he was born his family lived on Mt. Hope Street. Charles worked in wholesale distribution to grocery stores as a retail merchandising associate.
He met his wife of 46 years, Claire Tinker while in Lexington, KY, and they married in 1973. They had three children, and enjoyed attending shows and traveling together.
Charles enjoyed most sports, such as golf, basketball, football, soccer and baseball, and coached his sons in all sports. He also enjoyed history, especially that of WWII. He liked vintage television and movies as well as westerns and he loved “oldies” and classical music. However, his family was always most important to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Austin Eary and Ellen Frederick Eary. Charles is survived by his wife, Claire Eary; his sons Ronald (Mae) Eary, Sean (Annalise) Eary and Patrick (Ashley) Eary; his sisters, Mary Ellen Eary Wethington, Emily Workman Adewale, and Rayneita Workman; three grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
